Each clip is 8 seconds of a wheel turning. You hear every magnet passage and watch the gaps between them. Some clips are Squeektoshi's own recorded runs. The rest are fakes made for this game: a motor, a person's hand, a smooth simulation, a replay loop, and a run rebuilt from counts. Call each one hamster or robot ("robot" means any fake). A small trained model calls them too.

What the proof proves, and where it stops
Every real clip is Squeektoshi's own run, passage by passage, as his wheel's sensor recorded it. Every fake was made for this game. The motor and the hand are the telling ones: they would turn the real wheel, and the sensor would count them like any other passage. In the docs' words, "The sensor counts passages; it cannot tell why the wheel moved."
The docs are plain about it (Proof limits):
“Hamster proof of work” describes these recorded passages, not a way of proving animal identity or securing Ethereum consensus.
And from Measuring wheel activity: "A signing chip protects the key, not the truth of the data its host supplies."
A rhythm that looks wrong is worth a closer look, but it is not proof either way. The model was right on 89 of every 100 clips it had never seen, and it has no way to hear an exact repeat.
